Yesterday I was feeling brave and actually left a comment on one of my favorite blogs, Mr. Nice Guy, in which I confessed that he rocks me sockless. After reading elasticwaistbandlady/The Smiling Infidel's most recent post, however, I am thinking that sockless might just be a damn good thing, and that Mr. Nice Guy is lucky to be spared socks like these:

These are the only entertaining socks I own, and while the selection is nothing like the Infidel's, I admit that the area of footwear where I really excel, and in which I am willing to throw down the gauntlet of challenge, is shoes. Shoes like these:

and these:

I'm even inflicting my passion for shoes onto the adorable little feet of my boy-spawn. Observe the midget's shoe collection:

I believe firmly in the idea that the world is easier to face in a really kick ass pair of shoes. There is little one can't overcome with the proper footwear (and the proper application of said footwear to the posterior regions of the deserving when necessary).

Edited to add:
Oh yes, and just for you, my dear EWBL, I also have these:

What can I say? I love a good pair of shoes, the more unique the better. Sadly, the life of a suburban Hausfrau gives me precious little chance to wear these treasures. Sadly it's tricky to coordinate patent stilletos with sweatpants or flannel pajamas, which is truly a cryin' shame! Oh, and lest you think it's all 4 inch heels and silk brocade, I have added the footwear that I can wear with my normal day-to-days!

NCS - thank you for inspiring me to not only take pictures of my beloved footwear, and Thomas' collection of snazzy shoes, but also to post more, which makes Jayde happy!

Jayde - you know, I do live in the Hot Shoe Capital of the World, so I am sure I could find you some pretty wicked things for your footsies!

That is quite the collection. I could maybe do socks, but there's no way I'm taking on your shoe collection. (Or Thomas,' for that matter. How in the hell is the punctuation supposed to go there?)

Thanks for the comment today - do you mind if I link to you?

Ellen - I would be honored to be linked, and I shall link to you as well, if you don't mind!

Can I, ummmm, have your address? Its certainly NOT because I want to steal your flamingo slippers or anything heinous like that.

Woe is the day that I'd have to compete with you in the almighty shoe arena. And if a Mother's love is judged upon the basis of the cool shoes she buys for her offspring, then you must love Thomas infinitely more than I love my own kids.

You linked me? I don't even have an acceptance speech prepared or anything. I guess reciprocation will have to make due.

Can I just say also that the brown shaggy sock looks exactly like a loofah? If you should ever meet Ben Stiller, hide them so he doesn't try to unplug the toilet with them. That scene in Along Came Polly was funny. But then, toilet humour in any form always amuses me.

EWBL - I somehow knew those flamingo slippers would get your attention. I figured that if anyone could appreciate them as much as I do, it'd be you. My husband thinks they are ridiculous, but I think they are quite fetching when paired with some Eeyore pajamas!
The brown fuzzy socks do kind of look like a loofah, though I've often thought they resemebled something found in a toilet, more than something that might be used to unclog one. Ugly as sin, but toasty and warm!

I keep meaning to photograph my socks, now that my camera is back from repair.

In the meantime, though, I've been tagged in the five things game. The idea is that, once taqgged, you post five things about yourself that people may not know, then tag five more blogs. So....consider yourself tagged.

Sorry for the break there - the last few days have been spent preparing for having my niece over the weekend. But, I'm back, though we'll see if I survive a house with two toddlers in it! EEEEEE!
